LES ECUREUILS

In the charmingly named Les Ecureuils (The Squirrels) building, this just completed 3 bedroom apartment has underfloor heating throughout.

Our apartment features large open plan living, dining and kitchen area measuring 4m X 6m. Dual aspect with alpine views out of each window and access to the balcony.
Large extendable dining table that comfortably seats 6 people.
Wifi with a smart 42" TV to connect your media to.

Sleeps 6 in comfort, no bunks, sofa beds or "put you ups" to deal with.
European 2m double bed with ensuite shower room (This can also be accessed from the living room)
2 twin bedrooms with zip and lock beds that convert to kingsize beds for couples if required. These have double wardrobes with a mirrored door and plenty of hanging space.
Family shower with WC.
Separate WC with sink and mirrored cabinet.
The 2 shower rooms and the WC have electric heated towel rails to dry off any soggy clothing. Linen and towels are provided.
Large west-facing covered balcony with great views and evening sun.
Downstairs ski locker room.
Allotted parking space semi-covered directly below the balcony.

The apartment is located on the edge of La Chapelle D'Abondance, a lovely peaceful village. The village centre and nearest ski lift for the local Cret Beni ski area is only a 7 minute walk away. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby including the renowned Les Cornettes.

The local ski area has plenty to do, including a Snow park and an ESF ski school; slopes are quieter and less crowded and so are popular with beginners and young families with its pretty tree lined runs.
For the more adventurous or experienced there are connections to the vast Porte Du Soleil ski area from a bus stop right outside the apartment. Ski in France and Switzerland on the same day.
Or you can use your own car as most of the ski stations have free parking.
In the summer some the lifts have been specially adapted to carry mountain bikes. There are also marked hiking trails and white water rafting nearby.

Only 1.5 hrs from Geneva for those fed up with long transfers.
Easy drive around Lake Geneva from the airport then it's the D1005 D902, D22 no sick inducing steep hairpin turns on this scenic route.

The bus stop is directly outside to take you to Torgon, Chatel and other ski areas within a few minutes.

In the summer time, Lac Leman (Lake Geneva) is only a 30 minute drive away. Lake Montriond will take 40 minutes.

Staying at Les Ecureuils was an absolute joy!  This is a beautifully luxurious apartment set within an authentic, traditionally styled chalet building, totally remodelled and with all mod cons to hand, (great coffee machine), three decent sized bedrooms  with the comfiest beds ever, (proper well sprung mattresses), teamed with a bright airy living space, no shortage of bright panoramic windows and alpine picture postcard views complimented by a  balcony perfect for al fresco drinks and dining.  The sheer luxury of powerful top quality showers won me over…. not to mention the almost outré piece de resistance- the sumptuous under floor heating! A truly sensual experience and a winter or summer winner …. Perfect.

Louise A

February 2016

We stayed in this apartment for a month and had friends to visit. We really enjoyed staying there and it was perfect for 2,4 or 6 people. It is situated just outside La Chapelle on the main road with the bus stop right outside. The road is busy during the day but very quiet at night. It is possible to walk over the field at the rear of the property down to the river and then follow the path right along the river to the town or down the valley. If there is enough snow it is possible to ski/skate back from Cret Beni. Although the buses are regular, it is much more convenient to have a car and there is covered parking for one car underneath the balcony. At the moment there is plenty of parking for another car too.

The apartment is very well appointed - the kitchen has all the facilities and cutlery/crockery/pans you might need. The coffee machine is wonderful - so good that we ordered the same model to be delivered when we got home! The sitting area has plenty of seating for 6 adults (a frequent bugbear of mine is that in many chalets/apartments this is not the case), new TV and fast WIFI. The owner is very helpful via email if you struggle with the technology!

The underfloor heating means that it is always at a comfortable temperature and there is plenty of hot water for 6 adults to shower at the end of the day in the 2 new and efficient showers. There are also 3 electric radiators with thermostats which are perfect for drying wet gloves etc and boot dryers too.The bedrooms, although small, have plenty of storage space and very comfortable beds.

The reception area is open and spacious and gives access to the ski cupboard/cave. This is very big and we used it to store suitcases/wine/snow shovel as well as skis.

The other apartments are currently occupied by a mixture of locals and holiday-makers, who are all very friendly. La Chapelle is a lovely little village and the two skiing areas of Pantiaz and Cret Beni should not be ignored in favour of Chatel/Avoriaz. They are perfect (as is Abondance) for a half day skiing for competent skiers if the weather is a bit iffy and even better for beginners. We frequently drove to either Vonne (at the top of Chatel) or Morgin (past Vonne over to Switzerland) to access quiet slopes.

The owner is very helpful and friendly and cannot do enough to ensure you have a good stay.

TESTIMONIALS

“A modern well equipped and comfortable apartment well located for the slopes.”

Reviewed 6 April 2017 for a stay in March 2017

The apartment has comfortable, spacious communal space with a well equipped kitchen designed for cooking not for show. We cooked four out of the six nights we were there and found everything we needed to do so. The décor is modern and uncluttered. The two good showers with separate loos meant there was no queue for the bathroom which is important when sharing. The beds are comfortable and the there is plenty of storage space.
The location gives access to a range of ski areas suiting all abilities and we didn't visit them all.
